Philani Mdingi

Founder & Digital Strategy Director

Philani is the Founder and Digital Strategy Director at Maverick Mind (EMEA), a digitally led marketing agency.

He has more than 14 years working with global teams in Digital Marketing and Digital Strategy development. His expertise range from, Digital Transformation Consulting, Digital Strategy, Business Strategy, Design Thinking, Software as a service, Tech Consulting and business analytics. He is also a commentator on digital marketing and technology trends and has been published on platforms like CIO Kenya, Bizcommunity South Africa, ITNews Africa, PC Tech Magazine East Africa.

He built his career in a variety of Digital Marketing roles, mostly in the Business-to-business and technology space.

One of his major successes was heading up a digital department for a South African Technology business of which he was tasked to develop Market Entry Strategies for emerging markets: Argentina, Chile, Kenya, Nigeria, and Brazil, as well as generate online sales and grow brand awareness and equity.

The result? Everlytic was voted as the fastest growing technology company in South Africa and third fastest growing in Africa by Deloitte in 2014, with a 606% growth rate in revenue over 5 years.

Sizwe Salimane

Strategic Planning Director

There’s only one thing more powerful than an idea. It’s the system that allows the idea to leave the mind or the page and turn into the real power that an idea actually is. It’s a kind of magic.

The Strategic Planning Department is headed by Sizwe Errol Salimane, a Marketing Maverick with 20 years’ experience in the Marketing and Advertising Industry.

Sizwe is a GM. It’s his planning and passion that makes stuff happen. In fact, it’s eerie when you’re around someone like him. He seems to draw resources from thin air, weave them into a fine fabric to create a magic carpet that delivers beautiful communications business solutions to the world. To creative people it’s like magic. To your clients, it’s like magic. Come to think of it creating and implementing systems that facilitate world-class creative solutions is magic.

His tenure in the industry includes versatile positions at outfits such as TBWA/Hunt/Lascaris, Young & Rubicam, Grey Advertising, Jupiter Drawing Room, First National Bank (FNB – South Africa), The Electoral Commission of South Africa and the Old Mutual Limited Group among others. The diverse experience accumulated at the different companies gives Sizwe a competitive strategic brand marketing advantage.

Mzwakhe Ngwenya

Account Management Director

In a career spanning nearly two decades, Mzwakhe has worked for notable agencies such as Grey South Africa, Ogilvy, FCB, TBWA Hunt Lascaris and Black River FC on brands like Brand South Africa, South African Tourism, Vodacom, Mazda, M-NET Africa, SuperSport and Nissan to name a few. 

His highlight is the 2012 inaugural Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards launched in Nigeria. The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards were created to recognize and celebrate African film and TV talent. He formed part of the team that developed and implemented the concept, working very closely with other Agencies from the African network – Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Nigeria. The awards ceremony was broadcast live in more than 50 countries.

In his last agency stint as Business Unit Director and New Business Development, he liaised with the Mazda Marketing Team on strategic planning sessions and partner agencies, playing an integral role in the securing of new businesses; African Bank, Fanta, and British American Tobacco.

Ngwenya prides himself on finding creative solutions that suit each unique business problem.

Tebogo Modisane

Events Specialist

With more than 17 years’ work experience in events activation, live events, events and TV production, Tebogo has worked for reputable local and international companies, providing technical and hands on support in the full management and co-ordination of an extensive number of projects.

It is always her intension to offer a full service solution and produce the entire event from start to finish; with the assistance of key sub-contractors to facilitate and supply all catering, infrastructure, toilet, medical, security, decor, technical, health and safety elements. She has activated events in Southern Africa, East Africa and West Africa, has travelled extensively and has also established strong business relationships in these regions. Tebogo has worked in entertainment, event and live event industries, in TV reality productions, live concert production in various African countries including Zambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana, Angola and South Africa. Her experience, has also seen her work as PR and A&R manager at Electro-mode music, production managing and co-ordinating various TV Reality shows like Big Brother Africa and I AM South Africa to mention a few.
